The Detective Bureau has the ultimate responsibility for the advanced investigation of all deaths, thefts, robberies, frauds (credit card fraud, identity theft, etc.), burglaries, aggravated assaults, rapes, illegal drug investigations, computer-related crimes, and other such crimes that require extensive investigation.

Any crimes reported, which may range from petty thefts to homicide, are reviewed by the Detective Bureau supervisor and assigned for follow up based on several solvability factors with priority given to more serious offenses.

Detectives are primarily available during the day,

however they are also "on-call" to respond to situations as needed.
