LUDLOW POLICE DEPARTMENT ALERT

LOTTERY SCAM MAILING

The Ludlow Police Department would like to inform the community of a “Lottery Scam” being sent as a mailing to senior citizens in the community.

The mailing has the following letter head on it, ANC (Award Notification Commission), which requests that its recipient send a sum of money as an acquisition fee to receive their lottery award.

The documents appear official, but are completely fraudulent. It becomes apparent that it is a scam as the documents are closely scrutinized. A quick giveaway is the requirement that the recipient only respond by mail, along with the fact that there are no phone contacts listed in the mailing. The last part that gives it away is the credit card payment form, which is written in Spanish with a Kansas City, KS return address on it.

If you receive such a document or any mailing requesting money from you, that was not solicited by you in the first place, there is only one response required from you. THROW IT IN THE TRASH!
